This is one of my favorites. You know the little plastic pools for your backyard? Of course we have one and use it in the hot months.
Like many kids, I think, this was not a receptacle for water. It was for mud! He would throw so much dirt in the water, it would thicken and was much easier to play with. Turns out, The Boy’s mom would throw out the dirty water before it could get just right. But when #MomsNotHome, I was not so picky and The Boy Wonder could get the consistency exactly how he wanted it. As luck would have it, I was able to get a photo of him standing in the mud/water pool, wearing only a shirt and eating a piece of pizza. But he did have a hat on! Not appropriate for social media so I texted it to the wife.
These are all adventures and fun times that any number of dads have with their children. Autism does change that but only from a certain perspective. Many kids like to sculpt in mud but start with dirt and add a little water. The Boy just does the opposite and starts with water first. Slight changes in small things like that make life more interesting and fresh for an old guy who has already lived a childhood.
