He likes to carry his dinosaurs, and other toys, around in some kind of container. Sometimes a bag, sometimes a bucket, a backpack or just something he has found that day. This is pretty handy for us when it comes time for cleanup and just to keep things organized.
From time to time, he likes certain kitchen utensils as toys too. His favorite are knives. On any given day he may come around the corner holding one of our 8” or 10” chef’s knives! He is not doing anything with them yet, not carving anything up or hurting anything. Thank God!
One day we tell him it is time to clean up, “C’mon, it’s time to go. Get your toy bucket and get in the car!” I walk out to the car to buckle him in, look to the right of the car seat and see what he decided to bring – his alligator and a 10” chef’s knife. I have no idea how long it has been in his bucket.
I had to take a photo of it, just for posterity but I honestly am not sure if I ever told his mother. This may be the first she has heard of it. No need to highlight this one. Maybe she won’t read this story…
Needless to say, nothing is boring when The Boy Wonder is around. Initially I mourned for all the ‘lost’ memories we should have had and what I desperately thought I wanted. The reality of what he brings has helped me see the world differently. What he finds fascinating makes you stop and look at things differently and with greater appreciation.
This is never more true than when #MomsNotHome!
